One of the best times to ride the High Sierra Mountains is June, and I suppose it was no accident that Street Vibrations in the /Virginia city/Carson city area is set for that time!
And so it was we find Bob & Jody, with their friends Ray and Trudy Payne, sittin’ on their Harley’s riding through what is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
The ride from Berry Creek, CA to Virginia City NV is only a couple hundred miles, but is all thru the High Sierras. Sequoias rising hundreds of feet and, even in June, there were still some snow to make it even more beautiful.
Once we arrived we headed up the street to the Virginia city Inn. It sit’s at the outskirts of the small town and was perfect, even affordable!!
The streets started filling up by Friday afternoon, and by Saturday AM the streets were packed. The town itself is a perfect place for an event like this. It is still a one street town out of the old west.
Mark Twain started his career here, and his old newspaper building still stands.
But this weeks event was all about the bikes. Thousands of bikers from as far off as Florida, Texas & Utah joined those from Nevada, Arizona, California and Colorado to show off their street iron. And there was plenty of eye-candy too. Of both varieties : Female and motorcycles!
On Saturday we took a tour of the area. The winding roads so high in the mountains gave miraculous views, and the riding was absolutely perfect!
