What A Difference A Week Makes – Cruising Cabo!

We had an ugly January. We’ve been kinda strapped down at home in the Tundra ( Minnesota to be exact ) since my wife’s father went into decline and had to move into assisted living at Mayo Clinic. It had been 2 years of constant phone calls and 2 hour trips down at least weekly. This had been going on for almost 5 years since prior to that her Mom was in bad shape and she was the only stable one in family.

We had however gotten away once in that time for a ten day sail through the BVI’s. And it was the one time she was able to walk away from the phone and pretend the stress of home didn’t exist. Well- this January our dog of 14 plus years died after the holidays ( apparently he wanted to see his full family one last time. Funny how a dog can become such a central part of your family in that length of time. Then on a short break to ski 4 days in Colorado in Mid- January my wife got a call at a music show. We knew for sure it must be her Dad problem. Nope, her sister of 60 years of age passed in her sleep. She was never a particularly healthy person, but it was a shock . She had to return home to explain to her father who now beyond all his other health problems had dementia. Not easy explaining that his youngest child had passed before him. 2 weeks later he passed away !

Anyway, we had to get out of here ! She needed a long overdue break- away from phones, chaos’s and life. Remedy, a week in Cabo San Jose with nothing to do but watch for the whales that are in final preparation for migrating and once again getting out of the water !

What a difference a week made. Stress lifted, plans are being made to live our life going forward vs taking care of troubles.
